‘Elven Jewel (Hunters of Reloria Book 1)’ by Kasper Beaumont is a fantasy adventure that, on the face of it, would be quickly dismissed as part of a deluge of fantasy novels that bear a striking resemblance to the genre classics. That is a mistake that you should not make.
This is book 1 of the series so a set up is necessary to introduce the main characters as well as the immediate conflict. I find the pacing just right to immerse the reader into a new world where different races and creatures band together to achieve a common goal. I like how the characters have unique personalities with flaws and all, so there’s no confusion who’s saying what. This is something that I appreciate when reading a book with a host of characters.
The narrative style fits the genre and it presents the drama, humor, and the action at precisely the right time. It’s truly an enjoyable read.
