Well, I must admit that it wasn't the Cecile B. DeMille version that I was thinking it would be. Sure the people had to be pretty awful for God to want to drown them all, but I'd expected it to be something I could show my young children about the animals going in 2 by 2 hoorah, hoorah and they all lived happily ever after.
Instead I felt unsettled and disappointed by all the violence and Noah thinking he knew what was best for the world. Where was that in the Bible?
The negatives being the Noah character, the disharmony about the ark and deviations from the book.
3 stars from me and a reminder that I generally complain when I read the book first and the movie differs. Realistically, it was pretty hard not to read this book first and yep ... it differs. I don't know who to recommend it to either. See it if you like a bit of controversy.
