Bad boy Loki (Tom Hiddleston) has been locked in the dungeon by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins). Naturally such a good character can't be abandoned for long, so when their home world of Asgard is besieged by powerful dark elves, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and his Earthling love (Natalie Portman) come begging Loki's aid.
Strap yourselves in for a rollicking good action movie, with fantastic special effects and space ship battles. I was quite impressed when the portal guardian got involved in the action too.
Fans of the Avengers will appreciate the cross-movie references, and a quick cameo by one of the cast ties in with an upcoming movie. Thor is definitely my favourite Avenger, probably because of the fantasy world of Asgard, and his kick-arse fighting.
I highly recommend Thor: the Dark World for fans of fantasy, sci-fi and Marvel Comics. 5 stars from Kasper.
