Wow! The cinematography displayed here is amazing. It's incredible that space junk can assault the shuttle like hailstones in complete silence. I was enthralled by the special effects and amazed at how they shot the zero-gravity scenes. One memorable image for me was a single drop of blood floating through the air.
As someone who loves to watch a good action movie, I found the silence of the action scenes actually detracted from the intensity. Of course it is realistic that there would be no sound during collisions in space. Perhaps I'm a victim of watching too many Star Trek episodes :-)
Apart from the silence, the action scenes were gripping and incredible to watch. The resilience and ingenuity of the characters is admirable, as is their tenacity in the face of almost-certain destruction.
As far as the plot goes, I would have to say that it was not a traditional Hollywood kind of movie, but more like a real life plot (without trying to spoil it for you). There is not a lot of interaction between the characters for much of the movie and I guess I was waiting for a miracle to occur.
It's a great movie and I highly recommend it for fans of astronomy, sci-fi and action movies.
