I loved this! Without giving anything away, a must read for the beginnings of Asher. This is great either as a standalone read or reading in conjunction with the Hunters of Reloria series. 5 stars

Great introduction!

“The Tragedy of Garass and Asher“ was the first story written by Kasper Beaumont I read and it made me anxious for more dragon stories. It doesn’t take long and you find yourself propelled into a beautiful imaginative world. This short story is a great introduction to the “Hunters of Reloria” books, offering all a reader can ask for: suspense, emotions and tragedy.I really enjoyed “The Tragedy of Garass and Asher” and will definitely return to Reloria!  5 stars

'First,  I love the cover. This is an author who took the time to find a great cover and get his work formatted beautifully. A reader really does notice when an author takes the extra steps and goes the extra mile to make the reading experience enjoyable. And I'm sure that the series itself is just as beautifully handled and shares the same in-depth writing style and crystal clear imagery that is exhibited here.
This is a skilled writer who is great at his craft.

'Exciting prologue to a best-selling series' review by Professor Joshua Grasso @JoshuaGrasso #dragons

'This is a enticing short story introduction to Beaumont's world, and a nice way to sample her fantasy vision for those who haven't read her much-lauded novels. Though a very short read, the story is full of drama, passion, and a touch of humor as well. Beaumont's strength as a fantasy writer is being able to take long-lost forgotten (or never-were) worlds and translating them to the present. The dialogue and perspectives of the characters are not far removed from a modern romance novel or a scene from a romantic comedy, perhaps; and yet, this gives the fantasy world a deep humanity that belies the swords and sorcery that surrounds it.
'I believe that fantasy is a mirror for our modern world, abstracting our emotions and society through a lens of adventure and magic. The emotions here are real and keenly felt, and the characters (as I suggested earlier) can be found in any town the world over. That's what makes this story work, and why any lover of fantasy--particularly of the Young Adult variety--would eagerly snap up this tale and hunger for more.

'My only slight quibble would be that parts of it read a little too conventionally, and though beautifully written, it doesn't seem to stand up as a short story exactly. It reads more like a colorful episode in a longer work, and as a story it leaves the reader with a sense of wondering why it needed to be a stand-alone work (you sense there's something missing, or a story line that needs to continue). I imagine that this would make a fine Prologue or Interlude to a larger work, and that connective tissue would make its characters stand out in greater relief. But this is a minor issue and as long as you can read this story as part of a larger universe, rather than a stand-alone work, I think it will bring you great satisfaction (all the more so if you've read her other novels).'

Blurb:

Every great series has a beginning. Teenage Asher discovers that he has fallen in love with his best friend's girl. Can the dragons survive the tempest of emotions that ensue? Parental guidance recommended for young readers due to sensual and violent content.

The highly acclaimed story is now available on Amazon for just 99 cents.  Discover the world of Reloria today.

It's time to set some remotely achievable New Year's resolutions

So 2014 was a big year for everyone, wasn't it?
Instead of the obligatory post about how much bigger 2015 will be, I'll say 'meh' and resolve to do a little less this year.
Yes, that wasn't a typo.  De-cluttering my life sounds like the way to go at this brave and optimistic point in time.  I think I'll do a bit less of all that trying to be a super Mum, author, Uni student, working 2 jobs and raising 3 wonderful halflings.

Will I make a sea change or tree change and move somewhere quiet?  Nah, I hate moving, but maybe I'll be a bit quieter within myself.  'Calm the farm' as my good friend, This Charming Mum would say (yes she said that in her blog the other day and I'm so stealing it while poking out my tongue).  After all, being incredibly witty is one of those things I've never mastered, so I might as well quit that habit as well.
So what is realistically achievable in my quest to downsize?  Hmmm ... I guess I'd better keep on raising the halflings, no cutting corners on that one.  Next, I suppose I should keep one job to pay a few of the bills.  Maybe I'll spend less money so I don't need to earn as much ... aha that could be a winner!  Quitting post-graduate Uni ... yep not for this little black duck at the moment.  They say study is a lifelong pursuit, so what's the rush eh?  I'll get back to it eventually.
I was offered the position of Head Fundraiser at our local school.  Thanks, but no, I'm downsizing this year.  Just let me know when you want a cake stall and I'll be there with bells on.
This may come as a bit of a shock and you may giggle into your hipster beard when I say that I resolve to do a bit less social media and more writing.  Yes, I said it.  Candy Crush Saga and various other nefarious FB games are a major time drain, so I will try very hard to resist your temptations.  Of course Dragon City is more like research than an actual game, so I can't give that one up.  (Yes I can hear your chuckling all the way from over here.  Ok, it is not remotely educational but so very addictive and I can't wait to hatch my first Hot Metal Dragon egg).
I think Stephen Covey here has hit the nail on the head.  I don't know how to say 'No.'  My to-review list is probably 2 years long atm, so I'll have to say no to new books to review.  I do as much as I can, but must dedicate some time to actual writing myself.  'Yes.'  Good idea that.
So, what am I writing?
My new editor and I are revising Elven Jewel and making it grammatically correct and tightening up a bit of excessive verbiage (yes, apparently that it a word and a phenomenon).

Picture
I have made a start on three new writing projects: The Tales of Fandri ( a prequel to the Hunters trilogy); a short story about Sienna which I am writing with Kyla, a young fan; and a new trilogy.  What I will write first is anybody's guess, but the short story sounds like the quickest one, so it might get my vote while I'm still in editing mode.

I also have my short story  'The Tragedy of Garass and Asher' to publish as an ebook this year.  It was published in the Alpha & Omega Anthology towards the end of 2014 and is on my to-do list.
Hmm ... that sounds like a bit of work to do, so I'll be heading off social media and working on my New Year's Resolutions right now.
Until next time, be fantastic folks.

Great reviews from the publishes at Bent Banana Books who will be publishing 'The Tragedy of Garass and Asher' #dragons

Anne says, 'This is an entertaining story, Kasper.  It maintains the reader's interest throughout.  It is dramatic and written with clarity.  Keep up the good work.'
David says, 'I liked this science fiction story of a dragon in love which ended sadly.  We would like to publish it.'
Awesome stuff!  I'm so excited to have my work accepted in the Alpha and Omega Anthology and hope it will be published by Christmas.  The anthology is all about beginning and ending.  My story fits the criteria with its hope and promise of new love, turning into a tragedy.

Thanks so much to Bill Fox-Taylor for the editing and to Jaki Martinez and Mike Fertig for the artwork.
