Dragon love and adventures on Valentine's Day.  What did we get up to?  Surprises here for #ValentinesDay #Dragons

No candle-lit dinner and dozen long-stemmed roses here at Hunters HQ.  Too predictable.  Instead, we had much more fun on a family tree-climbing adventure.
I guess priorities change as the family grows and our ideas of a fun time change with it, so we headed down the beach park and climbed the historic local cotton trees.  We do enjoy a good play together down the park and the little dragons absolutely love it: climbing, ducking and diving between the gnarly old branches that I climbed on as a young dragon, myself.  We weren't the only ones enjoying the beautiful sunshine, with the BBQs and picnic tables full of families too.
After a great morning down the park, we went into a delightful café called the Sugar Deli, where they specialise in delicious cakes.  What more could a sweet-toothed dragon desire (especially when armoured knights are in such short supply down the beach)?  The courtyard was decorated with wire hearts strung with red roses and we

feasted on sweet treats and milkshakes under a chandelier with our hungry and energetic offspring.
After indulging in chocolate and macadamia cakes, we flew home and exchanged handmade cards with heart-thought messages about what love means to us.
... and that is Valentine's Day, the dragon way.
Peace all, love the Beaumonts.

It's time to set some remotely achievable New Year's resolutions

So 2014 was a big year for everyone, wasn't it?
Instead of the obligatory post about how much bigger 2015 will be, I'll say 'meh' and resolve to do a little less this year.
Yes, that wasn't a typo.  De-cluttering my life sounds like the way to go at this brave and optimistic point in time.  I think I'll do a bit less of all that trying to be a super Mum, author, Uni student, working 2 jobs and raising 3 wonderful halflings.

Will I make a sea change or tree change and move somewhere quiet?  Nah, I hate moving, but maybe I'll be a bit quieter within myself.  'Calm the farm' as my good friend, This Charming Mum would say (yes she said that in her blog the other day and I'm so stealing it while poking out my tongue).  After all, being incredibly witty is one of those things I've never mastered, so I might as well quit that habit as well.
So what is realistically achievable in my quest to downsize?  Hmmm ... I guess I'd better keep on raising the halflings, no cutting corners on that one.  Next, I suppose I should keep one job to pay a few of the bills.  Maybe I'll spend less money so I don't need to earn as much ... aha that could be a winner!  Quitting post-graduate Uni ... yep not for this little black duck at the moment.  They say study is a lifelong pursuit, so what's the rush eh?  I'll get back to it eventually.
I was offered the position of Head Fundraiser at our local school.  Thanks, but no, I'm downsizing this year.  Just let me know when you want a cake stall and I'll be there with bells on.
This may come as a bit of a shock and you may giggle into your hipster beard when I say that I resolve to do a bit less social media and more writing.  Yes, I said it.  Candy Crush Saga and various other nefarious FB games are a major time drain, so I will try very hard to resist your temptations.  Of course Dragon City is more like research than an actual game, so I can't give that one up.  (Yes I can hear your chuckling all the way from over here.  Ok, it is not remotely educational but so very addictive and I can't wait to hatch my first Hot Metal Dragon egg).
I think Stephen Covey here has hit the nail on the head.  I don't know how to say 'No.'  My to-review list is probably 2 years long atm, so I'll have to say no to new books to review.  I do as much as I can, but must dedicate some time to actual writing myself.  'Yes.'  Good idea that.
So, what am I writing?
My new editor and I are revising Elven Jewel and making it grammatically correct and tightening up a bit of excessive verbiage (yes, apparently that it a word and a phenomenon).

Picture
I have made a start on three new writing projects: The Tales of Fandri ( a prequel to the Hunters trilogy); a short story about Sienna which I am writing with Kyla, a young fan; and a new trilogy.  What I will write first is anybody's guess, but the short story sounds like the quickest one, so it might get my vote while I'm still in editing mode.

I also have my short story  'The Tragedy of Garass and Asher' to publish as an ebook this year.  It was published in the Alpha & Omega Anthology towards the end of 2014 and is on my to-do list.
Hmm ... that sounds like a bit of work to do, so I'll be heading off social media and working on my New Year's Resolutions right now.
Until next time, be fantastic folks.

Merry Christmas all.  I got the Anne Stokes dragon calendar from my thoughtful hubby <3

This is one of my favourite Christmas presents ever!  I'm such a fan of Anne Stokes excellent paintings and can't wait to see a new dragon every month.
I hope all your Christmas wishes are coming true too.
Our little halflings are thrilled with their new tree house.
Cheers, Kasper :-)

2 offers for Kasper today, a guest post and an interview

12/16/2013

I've been connecting with other authors lately to find out more about publishing and marketing and promoting my baby, the Hunters of Reloria series.  I've had a few people interested in reviewing Elven Jewel, which would be great.
Today I had an offer of a guest post from author Gilda Evans.  I wrote a blog post about encouraging children in the arts, such as music, dance, acting, art and writing.  It is due to be posted in January.
Also today I was contacted by Amy Metz from A Blue Million Books who has offered to interview me for her blog.  That sounds like fun and I will get to it very soon.

I'm working on Dragon's Quest this week and fleshing out the bones of my much-anticipated conclusion to the trilogy.   Lots happening over here at the Hunters.  Happy days, from Kasper :-)

I received the Galadriel award

11/23/2013

My fabulous friends know me too well and made my day with the Galadriel Award for being the token author in our group of friends.  I thought it very sweet and will treasure it forever.  Thank-you.

Please take a look at the Hunters of Reloria webpage

I've been working on some new pages for the Hunters webpage and would love to hear your feedback on how it looks.  Please check it out when you have a chance and let me know what works and what doesn't.  The newest pages are 'How to get a book' and 'Book reviews' by Kasper.
Many thanks and have a dragon of a day (that's a good thing BTW, because dragons are awesome!) from Kasper.

Kasper's thought of the day.  "You can do anything you want to in life.  You just have to make it your priority."

Slumber party with excited young fantasy fans.

We have a bunch of excited youngsters here on the eve of the Elven Jewel book launch.  I'm hoping these halflings will settle down soon or else they may see the dragon roar tonight.
By the way, this is Asher.  I didn't have a drawing of him yet, so I did one myself.  You can see why I get others to do the artwork for me.
Righto, I'm off to get some zzzzz and will see you all tomorrow.
Live large, from Kasper.

Here's a cool way to keep your halflings entertained on the school holidays...

Rainbow bubbles courtesy of Jay Laga'aia (of Star Wars fame) on Play School.  You add food colouring to bubble mixture and blow it out through straws onto the paper.  It's heaps of fun and makes a really cool and original piece of artwork.  Smiles all around.

No Stairway....denied!

9/3/2013

So number one son says this morning, "I passed my guitar assessment at school."  Good for you son, but I didn't even know you were learning guitar or I would have been teaching you Stairway to Heaven.  Oh, well, plenty of time on the school holidays to learn some finger picking :-)
