Kasper goes to Mount Doom #LordoftheRings #holiday

My blog about visiting Hobbiton was so popular that I thought I would continue with my Middle Earth adventure tales.
Chapter 2 is climbing Mount Doom in the footsteps of Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee.
Here on the left is Mt Ngauruhoe which is an active volcano.  I guess it was lucky for us that it wasn't spewing forth fire and brimstone when we chose to visit with the halflings.
In this national park area there are many famous alpine treks.  We went on the Tongariro Alpine trek.  Well, maybe we didn't get the whole 8 hour walk in with our young halflings, but we had a good time anyway.
There are three mountains in this area and the highest is Mt Ruapehu.  This mountain was used in many of the scenes for Mordor, Emyn Muil and the slopes of Mt Doom.  There are many awesome rock formations here.
When we visited of course, it was

covered in ice and snow and looked more like the High Pass of Caradhras where Saruman causes an avalanche to fall upon the fellowship.

Check out this wicked frozen lake we found on our alpine trek.
Our Beaumont clan lives in subtropical Australia,  therefore anything remotely cold is foreign to us, so we loved every minute of it.
Of course no ski trip would be complete without a bottle of Frogmorton ginger beer from the Southfarthing.  This is one we picked up at Hobbiton.  I reckon we'll be needing a few barrels of this shipped home to Oz.

Just a couple more happy snaps below of me falling over, oops, I mean skiing, and the view from our digs at National Park Village where a giant Kiwi is on the prowl.
By the way, make sure you check out the Schnapps Bar while you're there.

Blog post: Time for dragon holidays

Did you know that dragon's love to surf?

Well, it's true.  Ash Dragon and the little dragonelles have been catching some ripping waves at the sunny Australian seaside.  Many of you are curled up escaping winter's chill with hot mugs of dragon brew, while our mob are hanging ten on our boards.  What a great way to kick off the year!
After the busy 2014 year we had here at Hunters' Headquarters, it's nice to peel off a few layers of clothes and forget about everyday life for a change.
I think it's important for authors to take a bit of a break from the routines of writing, revising, marketing etc and to rediscover their muse.
Those of you who know a little about me will know that my biggest inspirations for my writing come from travelling and also spending time with my loving family.  After all, you need to have new experiences and adventures to have something fun to write about and share with the readers.

So what adventures did the dragons have this week?  We spent two glorious days at Australia Zoo, the home of the Crocodile Hunter.  We do respect other hunters to be sure.  Our favourite animals were probably the beautiful giraffes and the regal tigers.  We also enjoyed the free flight bird show with many different varieties of parrots and a large condor ranging free around the stadium.  We do love flying, of course!

We also did surfing at the beach, played a cut-throat game of Monopoly with the young entrepreneur dragons, and spend a glorious afternoon at a water park.

We hope you are all having a smashing start to the year.  Feel free to tell us your holiday tales too.

Dragons rule.
